Gorgeous quality image of Charles "Tod" Brynan depicted here with the Des Moines Prohibitionists of the Western Association where he toiled for part of the 1888 season. Brynan spent 1888 and 1889 in the Western Association as part of his brief baseball career bouncing between Minneapolis St. Paul Des Moines and Milwaukee. He also got three games with the Chicago White Stockings but did not distinguish himself enough to stick around long. His career in Des Moines was even more brief as he pitched in one game and played a few others in the outfield before being released. This example presents beautifully a highly desirable minor league example with a clean image that boasts incredible contrast and a clean mount. The technical grade assessed by SGC is the result of writing on the mount as well as light pencil writing on the reverse. Some minor water staining is also evident certainly nothing too disruptive. An exceptional example from a very popular cabinet issue.
