Little is known about William Frye (whose name is spelled incorrectly but much more interestingly on his N172 Old Judge cards) other than that he spent the 1889 baseball season with the St. Joseph Clay Eaters of the Western Association and was not particularly good. Still he got a baseball card as evidenced by this card #172-4 and in fact was awarded five different poses in the massive Old Judge set.
