The sale of hobby pioneer Lionel Carter's collection was one of the most famous sales of all the big hobby blockbusters. His extensive collection of high-end cards was only outshined by their condition and the prices realized set records. His legendary T206 set was broken up and spread among the hobby. Presented here are two examples: Billy Shipke (with Sovereign 350 back) and Tubby Spencer. Both cards grade VG 3 though the Shipke resembles a VG/EX specimen. However it is not the grade but the provenance that makes these cards so desirable. A part of hobby history - two T206 cards once part of the set owned by Lionel Carter.
