Attractive 7/8" pinback promoting John Tener's run for Governor of Pennsylvania. Tener was a pitcher and outfielder who played for the Chicago White Stockings and Pittsburgh Burgers with cards in the N172 and N173 Old Judge sets the ER Williams Game set and the Police Gazette Cabinets set. Tener was elected to Congress in 1908 and was nominated to run for governor in 1910. He won the election and then became the National League president in 1913. The pinback is in outstanding condition with some light wear evident on both front and back. The A.J. Keil Co. paper remains affixed to the inside of the reverse. A difficult-to-find pinback of a 19th Century ballplayer league executive and political figure.
