Over the past few years early baseball postcards featuring major league teams have become incredibly desirable those featuring named players and Hall of Famers even more so. This postcard from 1907 features Hall of Fame members Sam Crawford Hugh Jennings and an extremely young Ty Cobb. Multiple variations of this postcard exist most with the H.M. Taylor name printed on the reverse. This example is yet another variation with a divided back and a notation that the space at the lower left may be used for correspondence after March 1 1907. Mailed in 1909 to Youngstown Ohio with the note "Hello Ray - Just got in Winsor going to see some nags. R. W." Graded FAIR 20 the image quality is stronger than we have seen in most examples of this postcard though the grade would technically be accurate even despite the postal use. Light but visible soiling is evident throughout with minor staining at the lower-right corner and overall edge and corner softness. Still an outstanding postcard depicting Cobb in his earliest days in Detroit.
