Rare real photo postcard depicting the grand opening game at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh June 30 1909. The photo caption describes most of the photo contents a brilliant in-game shot in front of a capacity crowd witnessing the Pirates playing the Chicago Cubs. Produced for advertising purposes by the Willits & Felix Company of Pittsburgh the company clearly used the postcard for its own correspondence as the two examples of this card we have encountered both contained typewritten business correspondence from the company itself. Exceptional quality image FAIR condition with some soiling 1909 postal use and an edge tear likely the result of the aforementioned use. An exceptionally rare card.
