The Ponies of Springfield MA were a member of the Connecticut State League a Class B league that operated from 1905-1912. A number of members of the 1908 Ponies - catcher Joe Connor outfielder Harl Maggert pitcher Bill Powell outfielder Pop Rising infielder Tom Stankard and first baseman Ad Yale - played in the majors during their careers. The team however was led by pitching including Murray Parker who posted a 22-4 record and Powell who went 20-8 during the season. The postcard graded GOOD+ 35 by SGC is marred by general wear consistent with the grade (including some staining/discoloration visible on the right side of the card) but nothing so dramatic as to detract from the card's appeal. Minor league team postcards are among our favorite collectibles as they truly represent a "love of the game " and this is a fine example.
