Fantastic clean Adirondack Big Stick model 259A measuring approximately 35" and weighing 34 ounces used by the Yankees captain during the prime of his career. The bat was manufactured between 1976 and 1979 during which time the All-Star catcher appeared in three World Series won his MVP award and drove in 100 runs twice. The catcher began to feel the effect of nagging injuries during the 1979 season and amidst rampant speculation about a possible trade or position change flew to his home in Canton Ohio for an off-day in early August of 1979. It was on that off day that Munson was killed in a plane crash while practicing takeoffs and landings in his new jet. The bat is in outstanding condition clean and sturdy with a slight crack in the barrel along one of the witches' peaks to the left of the centerbrand. The bat exhibits clearly distinguishable ball marks on the left barrel several cleat and bat rack marks and a very light coating of pine tar at the handle. An exceptional bat with full LOA from John Taube of PSA/DNA. NOTE: We have amended the model number and uploaded a scan of the LOA on this item
