I have one to sell!
In our fall Ringside auction we offered a run of Rhotogravures from the French language Canadian newspaper La Presse. The full-color engravings were only partially catalgued believed to consist of nothing but prizefighters. Lo and behold we receive a consignment of one single La Presse supplement featuring Hall of Fame pitcher Lefty Grove. By 1929 Grove was a full-fledged superstar having won 20 games in two consecutive seasons with the Athletics leading the league in 1928 with a 24-8 mark. He reeled off a strong of seven consecutive 20-win seasons (actually eclipsing 30 in 1931) and continued to pitch effectively until his retirement at 29. Dry-mounted onto a piece of foamcore with a protective layer of shrink-wrap we have elected to leave the supplement so encased. THe presentation is excellent the piece very well-preserved. However due to the cellophane we are unable to examine the reverse for any condition wear. Regardless an excellent piece depicting one of the game's greats.
