Has a more important football card ever been issued than the 1977 Topps Steve Largent rookie card? Judging from PSA's population reports one would think not. As of this writing 2 892 examples have been graded by PSA alone including a whopping 373 graded MINT 9. Let's examine Largent's legendary career in an effort to understand the reasons behind the overwhelming interest in his rookie card. Largent enjoyed a 14-year career during which he played in an even 200 games. During those 200 weeks he received the coveted Player of the Week award three times. He was first-team All-Pro one year and won the NFL Walter Payton Man of the Year once. He led the league in receiving yards twice finishing with an astonishing 13 089 receiving yards - good for 18th all-time. He scored 101 touchdowns in his career - good for 19th. He only fumbled 17 times. He finished 61st in history in all-purpose yards. He weighed 187 pounds. And he was from Oklahoma. Trust us when we say that when a Steve Largent rookie card makes its way into the LOTG offices heads turn. This outstanding specimen is one of just 1 026 to be graded at the NM-MT 8 level. Consigned from the collection of a minor celebrity who chooses to remain nameless due to a desire to avoid excessive fan mail and autograph requests it carries that extra luster almost like a special sort of sheen associated with being part of a truly important collection like one of Jay Leno's cars or Jimmy Carter's teeth. It is an honor and a privilege to present this to you a genuine Steve Largent rookie card one of just 2 892 examples to have been graded by PSA (plus 353 by SGC).
