Stunning example of the #1 card from the popular 1948 Leaf football set of Hall of Fame Quarterback Sid Luckman. The first NFL player to ever throw for 400 yards in a game Luckman played his entire career with the Chicago Bears winning four championships and being named the NFL's Most Valuable Player in 1943. Though Luckman had played nine seasons by the time this card was issued it remains his first card due to the lack of production of football sets in this era. The card itself is the perfect storm of football cards: a high-grade example of the #1 card of a popular vintage set that happens to be the rookie card of an important Hall of Famer. As such the value of this card continues to rise. As the key card in an extremely popular vintage football issue the scarcity of this card in higher grades cannot be overstated. Of all the examples of the Luckman card to have been graded by either PSA or SGC just seven have graded higher a testament to the card's scarcity in high grade. This example is very strong well-centered though slightly off from top to bottom. Corners are sharp and the color is bold and vivid. An excellent high-grade example of one of the most important cards of the 1948 Leaf issue.
