Enormous collection of postcards some of which are obviously baseball-themed some not. In reviewing the massive collection we began to observe a common theme with many - many of the cards are aerial views of different places and somewhere in the image a baseball field is present! Occasionally the image is obvious - it's a photo of people playing baseball or an aerial photograph of an actual baseball game. In other cases it's a bit less clear - an aerial photo of the Golden Gate Bridge with a baseball field in the foreground or an aerial photo of the MIT campus which includes two ballfields. Also included in the collection are some photos of other sports teams as well as photos that are not baseball-related in any way. The postcards average in GOOD condition many postally used. The amount of diligence that the original collector of these postcards needed to employ to find all these ballfields is staggering. Careful viewing of aerial photo and illustrated postcards scouring every inch of the card to find a ballfield must have taken a significant amount of time without the kind of financial payout of say finding Babe Ruth in a real photo postcard or identifying Ty Cobb in an amateur team photo. Mostly these are just aerial images of nondescript baseball fields. A testament to the ubiquitous nature of baseball.
