Measuring 6 1/8" x 8 1/2" this gorgeous original news service photo of Ty Cobb depicts Cobb lunging to catch a ball. The photo contains a well-known image of Cobb and exhibits wear around the edges and cracking to the emulsion the words "Ty Cobb Detroit" handwritten in ink in the upper-left of the photo. The border along the right edge of the photo has been trimmed away. The reverse contains the International Newsreel stamp along with some handwritten notes and remnants from where the photo was once clearly mounted in some sort of notebook. The photo clarity and detail is outstanding with Cobb's uniform including the black armband worn in remembrance of Ray Chapman who was killed on the ballfield the prior season. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
