Gorgeous 6 1/2" x 8 1/2" photo of Ty Cobb at the plate wearing an enormous pair of sunglasses. Likely taken in 1927 Cobb had a surgical procedure on his eyes in early 1926 and immediately returned to Augusta Georgia for Tigers spring training. He wore dark sunglasses to prevent damage to his eyes during training. The interesting photo is in very strong condition some minor surface abrasions consistent with its use and a single heavy crease that has cracked the emulsion at the right edge of the photo not interfering with the image of Cobb. Some staining is evident at the bottom of the photo which exhibits the general waviness common to these photos due to age and storage. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
