Delicate and beautiful the PM1 "Ornate Frame" pins are more jewelry than sportscard featuring a small photo of a player with his name underneath surrounded by an "ornate" metal frame. The pins measure about 1" x 1 1/8". Incredibly scarce the manufacturer of the pins along with their original method of distribution remain unknown. A recent discovery of nine min condition examples show that the pins were initially affixed to 2" x 2" blank cards with the frame a lighter gold color. Most frames oxidized over the years with toning inevitable with the images result in condition issues that are not only accepted with this issue but taken for granted. This pin of Christy Mathewson is clearly worn and faded in POOR condition with significant wear. These pins do not make themselves available frequently however with the lowest-grade examples carrying a premium due to scarcity. In any grade a highly desirable item.
