No card in the hobby has been hotter or more consistently desirable than the 1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle. The heat has been explosive for years and the card continues to set price records with each sale. Back in February of 2014 Love of the Game was the first auction house to sell a GOOD graded Mantle for more than $10 000. Nearly four years later the card in that grade routinely tops $12 000 with high-quality examples reaching above $15 000. The card graded FR-PR exceeds $8 000 on a regular basis regardless of eye appeal with the stronger examples topping $10 000. Presented here is one of those stronger examples a clean and colorful PSA 1 with a strong and reasonably well-centered image. Wear is evident and consistent with the grade however nothing is so obtrusive as to be a distraction. Several creases traverse the card along with corner and edge wear is consistent with the grade. Despite this the card is an outstanding example of how a PSA 1 can still boast strong eye appeal. Easily the most important postwar trading card and in the eyes of many the most important baseball card of all-time the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle is quickly approaching the point where it can not be described as "affordable" in any grade. The key card in a landmark set the first Topps card of one of the most popular players ever to set foot on a baseball diamond the card is on virtually every want list. A truly incredible card seemingly growing in value each and every day.
