I have one to sell!
Over the years we have encountered a number of odd things onto which fans have asked players to apply their autographs. None however are more odd than this - a vintage drum head signed by a host of players. The drum head was clearly owned by a musician who had access to players for entertainment purposes; the drum was signed by a number of ballplayers whose signatures appear underneath further use-related wear. This means that the drummer likely entertained players who signed the drum head at his request despite his continuing to play over the signatures. As a result there are certainly signatures that have faded or been obscured by the wear forever lost to time. Still there are significant visible signatures on the piece more than 20 with legible ones including Hall of Famers Joe DiMaggio Jimmie Foxx Lefty Gomez Lefty Grove and Ted Williams. Also visible are signatures of Joe Glenn Pinky Higgins Bump Hadley Bill Summers Myril Hoag Earle Mack Fritz Ostermuller Chubby Dean Bob Johnson Jack Wilson George Selkirk Jake Powell Denny Galehouse (partially obscured) Johnny Peacock (partially obscured) and a few other very faint signatures that cannot be determined. One of the most fascinating pieces we have encountered a true oddball item but with some valuable vintage signatures higlighted by that of Jimmie Foxx. Full LOA from James Spence Authentication.
