I have one to sell!
In the 1950s two Algerian-French-Jewish boxers rose to world titles: Alphonse "The Little Terror" Halimi held the bantamweight title from 1957-59 and retired with a final record of 42-8-1. Robert Cohen held the bantamweight title from 1954 through 1956. Both men were featured on a variety of European issues and we are offering a nice selection of cards and materials here. Cohen is represented on a quartet of cards: 1954 cards from brasseries Motte Cordonnier and La Ruche Moderne and a pair of 1950s Mirior Sprint cards. Halimi is featured on five cards: a 1959 Rix La Croix (French tobacco rolling papers) 1958 Master Vending (portrait and fighting) 1958 Rekord and 1950s Mirior Sprint. Also included is a 1960 photo of Halimi inscribed and signed on the reverse. Two programs from Halimi's World Championship bouts in 1959 and 1960 in Los Angeles are included as well. The collection also includes items from Allie Stoltz Abe Simon and Armand Emanuel. Stoltz was a longtime contender for the lightweight title who lost a pair of title bouts to Hall of Famers Sammy Angott and Bob Montgomery. Included is a January 30 1943 wire photo of Stoltz batting Hall of Famer Willie Pep. Simon was a heavyweight contender who fought Joe Louis twice. He later went into acting and had a role as a scary goon in On The Waterfront. His 1941 publicity photo labels him the new James J. Jeffries. Not quite but he remains widely collected. Emanuel the "Boxing Barrister " was an attorney and heavyweight from San Francisco who ran up a 39-7-2 record in the late 1920s and early 1930s. Presented here are two of his publicity photos labeling him the Pacific Coast Heavyweight Champion. An interesting and diverse collection of materials related to five different Jewish boxers. 16 items total.
