Interesting example of the famous Currier & Ives print The American National Game of Base Ball that depicted the 1865 Grand Match at Elysian Fields in Hoboken NJ. A variety of printmakers have produced high-quality reproduction prints of the lithograph each has proven to be quite desirable. This is an interesting example that we have never seen approximately 9x12" including its mount produced as what appears to be a shiny foil etch print. Though we have found similar Currier & Ives foil etch prints produced in 1970 by the printing company Brown & Bigelow we cannot determine the origin of this particular piece. What is undeniable however is that this is a well-known and highly desirable print in virtually any format depicting one of the most storied games in the game's history the championship match between the New York Mutuals and the Brooklyn Atlantics attended by 20 000 fans.
