Attractive 4.75" x 7" photo of Hall of Famer Cap Anson wearing his Chicago White Stockins uniform. While the original photo was taken in the 1880s it is speculated that this photo was a restrike dating to the early 1900s perhaps 1905 when Anson campaigned for City Clerk. The photo itself exhibits considerable wear with creasing and some small edge tears as well as light wrinkling and two corner clips. A slight pinkish marking can be seen near Anson's collar which may be an editorial mark from the period. Still a strong image of the 19th Century's most popular player.
