I have one to sell!
Attractive oversized lithographic page from a clothing catalog. The image depicts three men dressed in dapper suits standing in front as a baseball game is played behind them. Images like this were often included in the pages of large clothing catalogs that were given to retailers for the selection of fabric samples and suit styles from different suit manufacturers. Some like Born & Co. utilized images of popular athletes of the day. Born & Co advertised Ty Cobb's endorsement and we believe the gentleman in the middle of this image is supposed to be Cobb though it does not reflect that anywhere in the piece. Our gut tells us that the man with his hand raised is Ed Walsh and the man alongside Cobb is Walter Johnson though again there is no way for us to definitively make this claim. The litho is clearly printed on a heavy large stock and obviously has been removed from what was likely a heavy book (we have seen similar books during our research but sadly could not pinpoint this one). While the romantic notion that this image depicts Cobb Walsh and Johnson could be possible the image itself stands on its own as beautiful. An outstanding display piece.
