There are several schools of thought on the nature of blank-backed Ramlys with prevailing wisdom indicating that there are two distinctly different groups of cards: the first group are often thought of as "half" cards which are essentially traditional T204s that have lost their backs (Ramly scholars maintain that the earliest printed versions of the cards were actually two pieces of adjoining stock; a front and a back and these "blank backs" are half the thickness of such cards). The second group are "true" blank backs found in just six different subjects in the T204 set - Anderson Bancroft Bransfield Burkett Dineen and Moran - the same six cards found with the rare "square frame" fronts. Graded “poor” by SGC this T204 card of Kitty Bransfield is from the second grouping due to its blank back. While this sample does so its age with creasing and corner wear Bransfield’s handsome portrait remains unblemished. This is a challenging sample to find a blank-backed Ramly and a sample missing from many type-card collections.
