Spectacular June 1956 issue of Sport magazine featuring superstar outfielder Willie Mays taking his cuts in the batting cage. Mays who signed the publication in blue Sharpie dramatically across the cover was en route to a sensational season where he would hit .296 with 36 home runs and 40 stolen bases nearly becoming baseball"s first 40/40 man decades before it was finally accomplished by Jose Canseco in 1988. The publication displays fantastically but is worn considerably having been repaired at the spine with Scotch tape and suffering from some ink marks (the number "1956") in the Sport logo. Several folds and creases along with some minor tears round out the wear-related issues. Still a fantastic display piece honoring the "Say Hey Kid." COA from SGC Authentic.
