Believed to have been distributed inside boxes of caramel candy the E125 American Caramel cards are all very large (some measuring as much as 7" high) and feature players from the Athletics Red Sox Giants and Pirates. Undiscovered until the 1960s the cards were printed by the P.R. Warren Company of Lowell MA and feature a team checklist and advertising message on the reverse. The cards are very rare and due to their nature as die-cut cards that were meant to be folded and stood up are condition sensitive. The majority of the graded examples are in low grade with many graded AUTHENTIC due to the tabs on the die-cut images being inadvertently removed or falling off over time. Such is the case with this card of Josh Devore which has not been professionally graded but would certainly grade AUTHENTIC due to the right side of the tab at the base of the card having been removed at the perforation. Aside from that obvious technical flaw however the card is in strong condition some wear around the edges and slight folding at the base reducing what would otherwise appear to be a midgrade card. A very difficult issue.
