The 1966 East Hills Shopping Center Pirates set captivated many a young collector with the advent of the Beckett Baseball Card Price Guides of the early 1980s. The oversized cards featuring photographic images of the great Roberto Clemente and Willie Stargell were captivating the first example of a vintage regional issue that many young collectors could afford in those early hobby days. Presented here is the ultimate display for collectors from that era: a complete 1966 East Hills Shopping Center uncut sheet. Featuring all 25 of the issue's cards the Clemente sits right in the center of the sheet anchoring the set as he did the team. Dry-mounted to a foamcore backing measuring approximately 16 1/2" x 21 3/4" and wrapped in cellophane (with price sticker affixed at the top left unfortunately) the presentation is quite strong. The cellophane itself has been subjected to some wear and abrasion which detracts somewhat from the presentation but we have elected to leave the cellophane attached for protection. The winning bidder could certainly remove it as well as the backing for a much more attractive presentation. Of course the backing prevents us from reviewing the back of the sheet for condition issues but the sheet itself presents as EX-MT with one large abrasion and indentation that mars the card of Pete Mikkelsen on the right side of the sheet.
