Spectacular news service photo depicting Mickey Cochrane in his second pro season with the 1924 Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League. Cochrane hit .333 that season in 300 at bats moving to the Philadelphia Athletics in 1925 where he would begin his Hall of Fame career in the major leagues. The photo is sensational an Underwood & Underwood photograph with slug attached announcing Connie Mack's purchase of the great catcher for the 1925 season. The biographical information printed on the slug is dated November 24 of 1924 just a few months before his major league debut. The photo itself appears to be in VG/EX condition with a slight blemish at the top near Cochrane's cap. The slug still attached does exhibit some wear including notches and tears. The reverse contains some newsroom markings tape and remnants along with various stampings. A fantastic "pre-rookie" image of one of the game's greatest catchers and most popular players of his era.
