Easily one of the hobby's most popular nonsports issues the 1962 Topps "Mars Attacks" set capitalized on the era's fascination with - and fear of - space exploration. Simultaneously some of the hobby's most colorful and violent art the card fronts illustrated the horrifying results of a Martian invasion while the reverse - in series - told the story of Earth's eventual destruction of the invaders. The set remains immensely popular today with tremendous competition among high-grade collectors driving up prices across the board.
