Complete 18-card set as issued by the famous manufacturer of sewing machines. Each of the set's cards depict a variety of people from a different city around the world wearing their "costumes" and using a beautiful Singer brand sewing machine - men sewing ribbon while wearing grass skirts in the Caroline Islands a family sewing clothing in Edinburgh women making a dress in Greece a family sewing a pelt inside a wigwam in Archangel - all included in this fascinating 18-card lithographic set which comes in its original box. The box of course advertises "lithographed reproductions of photographs taken on the spot in the various countries and provinces and colored there to correctly represent the native costumes." The cards which measure 3 1/4" x 5 1/8" average VG/EX condition though the accompanying box is quite poor with significant staining on both sides and part of the box top torn away. Still a fascinating lithographic nonsports set featuring 18 extremely colorful and detailed cards featuring a brand still popular today.
