The undisputed key to the nine-card 1953 Stahl-Meyer set and one of the most valuable and sought-after of all the regional meat-related issues the Stahl-Meyer Mickey Mantle is one of the most desirable cards in the entire postwar hobby. Issued in packages of Stahl-Meyer hot dogs in the New York area the set includes three players each from the Yankees Dodgers and Giants. The card fronts feature colorful photos with biographical information on the reverse the white-bordered cards featuring corners cut diagonally. Despite the non-sharp corners high-grade examples are very few and far between simply due to the method of distribution - most cards are prone to significant wear and staining. This card of Mantle has been graded PR 1 (MK) by PSA with spots of paper loss that impact the card front and the ubiquitous staining visible on the reverse. Despite the grade the card presents extremely well. Indeed high-grade Stahl-Meyer Mantle cards are practically nonexistent; of 48 examples graded by PSA 34 have graded 1 or lesser. This is for all practical purposes one of the nicer surviving examples.
