Attractive and colorful promotional fan dating to the early 1910s as made available to spectators attending baseball games. The body of the fan measuring approximately 9 1/4" x 8 3/4" features an unscored scorecard set inside whimsical images depicting the managers of each of 16 major league teams. Each manager is represented with a photograph of his face set inside a cartoon that somehow relates to his team nickname or an anecdote relating to the team (i.e. Nap Lajoie dressed as Napoleon Bonaparte or Connie Mack being hoisted up by a white elephant). The following managers are depicted on the fan: Bill Carrigan (Boston) Frank Chance (New York) George Stovall (St. Louiss) Hugh Jennings (Detroit) Connie Mack (Philadelphia) Bill Dahlen (Brooklyn) John McGraw (New York) Joe Tinker (Cincinnati) Miller Huggins (St. Louis) Johnny Evers (Chicago) Clark Griffith (Washington) Nap Lajoie (Cleveland) Jimmy Callahan (Chicago) Fred Clarke (Pittsburgh) Red Dooin (Philadelphia) and George Stallings (Boston). Unlike most surviving examples this appears to have been a salesman's sample the model number and pricing of the fan printed on the reverse (the price of 10 000 fans back in 1910 was less than the opening bid for just one today). This example appears in Near Mint condition unused it's handle still intact and only very minor age-related toning present. A beautiful example of a highly collectible memorabilia item featuring ten Hall of Famers.
