The issue known today as Dormand Postcards were produced by Long Island photographer Louis Dormand who photographed a variety of players from the Yankees Dodgers White Sox and Phillies and provided them with postcards for players to use when honoring fan requests for autographs and such. There are a number of variations known to advanced collectors as well as several scarcities which once included the Gil Hodges card until a large hoard was sold at public auction some years ago. Among the interesting variations are "oversized" cards of both Mickey Mantle and Phil Rizzuto. Both are highly desirable though the Mantle is easily the key to the issue due to rarity as well as the popularity of the player. Due to their extremely large size (9" x 12") higher-grade examples are seldom found. This example is nearly perfect some very slight corner touches preventing us from calling the card "Mint " but it's overall eye appeal very close. A simply wonderful card rarely seen in this condition.
