The 1960 Fleer "Baseball Greats" issue consisted of 78 cards of the game's greatest players plus one card of Ted Williams the only player still active at the time of the set's printing. An 80th card not included here was an unissued error card with Pepper Martin's biography on the reverse and either Eddie Collins Lefty Grove or Joe Tinker on the front. As with the other early Fleer issues this is a tremendously underrated set fraught with quality control issues (centering in particular) featuring photos of many of the greatest players of all-time. Presented is a complete PSA-Graded set of 79 cards in particularly high-grade. The set's GPA is 7.47 which ranks it #24 on the PSA Set Registry. A complete breakdown by condition is as follows: PSA NM-MT 8 (23 cards): #1 Lajoie #3 Ruth #6 Johnson #8 #13 #20 #26 #28 Gehrig #32 #39 #40 #41 #42 Cobb #49 #52 #55 #57 #60 #65 #67 #71 #72 Williams #74; PSA NM 7 (56 cards): #2 Mathewson #4 #5 #7 #9 #10 #11 #12 #14 #15 #16 #17 #18 #19 #21 #22 #23 #24 #25 #27 #25 #26 #27 #28 #29 #30 #31 #33 #34 #43 #44 #45 #46 #47 Young #48 #50 #51 #53 #54 #56 #58 #59 #61 #62 #63 #64 #66 #68 #69 #70 #73 #75 #76 #77 #78 #79. A very attractive high-grade complete set with no card grading below NM 7. 79 cards total.
