Large grouping of instructional pamphlets endorsed by "Colby Jack" Coombs the outstanding deadball era pitcher who went on to become a college coach at Princeton and Duke. Coombs endorsed a group of six instructional pamphlets based on his book Baseball - Individual Play and Team Strategy which was published in 1938. The pamphlets were issued in 1939 by Atlantic Oil and included a sweepstakes offer that entitled the winner to prizes which included tickets to the World Series. This group of 17 pamphlets includes "Points on Batting" (2) "Catching" (2) "Fielding" (3) "Pitching" (2) "Infield Strategy (3) and "Base-Running" (4) for two complete sets of six pamphlets. Average condition is VG with most exhibiting some age-related wear.
