Attractive higher-grade rookie card of the tough Bears linebacker and sometime actor. The Philadelphia Gum Company in association with Sports Picture Cards Enterprises of New York held the exclusive trading card license with the NFL from 1964-67. Considered by many to be the most scarce of the Philadelphia football issues the 1966 sets suffered from significant centering and cutting issues making true high-grade copies difficult to obtain.Card #31 of Dick Butkus is without doubt the key card of the 1966 Philadelphia set easily the most valuable by a factor of multiples (though the set also contains first-year cards of Gale Sayers and Bob Hayes among others). This particular example is attractive for the grade but off-center to the left with a lower-right corner touch. Still this is an outstanding example of a condition-sensitive Hall of Fame rookie card.Population data:PSA Population: 644 total graded 141 at this level 114 higherSGC Population: 109 total graded 13 at this level 17 higher
