I have one to sell!
One of the more attractive cards from the Lionel Carter collection featured in our auction this example of Cincinnati pitcher Bob Spade boasts wide natural borders and strong centering with corners ever-so-slightly rounded. Coming off a 17-12 season in 1908 Spade tailed off dramatically going just 5-5 in 14 games in 1909. His career ended as quickly as it started as he was out of baseball by the end of the 1910 season not even continuing in the minor leagues as many players from his era did.The card was of course a part of the famed Lionel Carter collection - once part of a complete set of T206s assembled by the hobby pioneer and sold at auction in 2007. The winner has broken up the set and we were able to obtain a consignment of several cards from the collection. Rather than group them together as a single midgrade lot we thought it would be worthwhile to sell them as individual cards so that multiple collectors could have a chance at winning the cards with such outstanding provenance that were once a part of such an important collection.
