Beautiful oversized team photo depicting the Yankees at a pivotal time in their history. Under the tutelage of Hall of Fame manager Joe McCarthy the 1936 Yankees began a four-year streak of World Series victories. While the Ruth-led Yankees of the 1920s and the Mantle-led teams of the 1950s and 60s are often heralded as the team's greatest the late 1930s Yankees were pretty fantastic as well. Featuring Hall of Famers Bill Dickey Lou Gehrig Tony Lazzeri Joe DiMaggio Lefty Gomez and Red Ruffing this was a phenomenal team. 1936 was interesting in particular as it heralded the first season of the Yankees' Joe DiMaggio who eventually would take over the team leader role from team captain Lou Gehrig. The photo itself is crisp and clean with DiMaggio and Gehrig side-by-side at the photo's right edge.
