One of several similar black and white card sets associated with the E210 York Caramel set that were issued in 1928 and sponsored by various ice cream companies the Yuengling"s set was a particularly scarce variety until a large stash walked into the National Sports Collectors Convention several years ago and were distributed to various dealers by a single collector. The Yuengling"s cards produced by Yuengling"s Ice Cream Co of Pottsville PA (the same Yuengling"s that brews Yuengling beer today) was a numbered set with two back variations - one offering a free gallon of ice cream as a redemption for a complete set of cards the other featuring the additional offer of a $5.00 "skooter" for the redemption of a Babe Ruth card.Despite the aforementioned stash only 988 individual Yuengling"s cards have been graded rendering graded examples of the cards more plentiful than their cousins (Harrington"s Sweetman Tharp"s and the W502 set for example) but still scarce in relation to other 1920s issues. This Alexander one of the key HOFers in the set is a strong collector-grade example of the card with a feint crease in the upper and lower-left corners and the appearance of a slight hand-cut along the bottom edge none of which flaws detract from the overall look of the card. This Alexander features the Babe Ruth "skooter" back variation. Interestingly despite the influx of higher-grade Yuengling"s that passed through the National several years ago the population of graded Alexander cards in the hobby remains slim with higher-grade copies very elusive - SGC has not graded an Alexander higher than this.Population Data:SGC Population Report: 10 total graded none higherPSA Population Report: 5 total graded 3 higher
