I have one to sell!
One of a magnificent collection of 1939 Diamond Stars premiums being offered individually or collectively as a complete set (#2 on the SGC Registry). In exceptional condition these oversized premiums were produced from photographs using a photo-lithograph process each a beautiful representation of both action and portrait shots of baseball heroes of the day. Each of the card versos feature illustrated diagrams to help youngsters improve their baseball fundamentals. The rarity of these cards in high grade cannot be properly described as the oversized photos were printed on flimsy thin paper. The cards are generally susceptible to general corner and edge wear along with folds pinholes and tape marks from Depression-era youngsters displaying the cards on their walls. This is one card in a magnificent collection of 1939 Diamond Stars Premiums one of the highest-grade collections of these cards that you will ever encounter. Whether the group sells as a complete set or as individual cards is up to the highest bidder(s).In any grade this is a fantastic card. It truly is one of our favorite prewar baseball images. Likely posed but still outstanding the image features the Reds Hall of Fame catcher in full gear preparing to whip a ball down to second base to nail a stealing baserunner (or so we like to think). Lombardi"s pose is pure intensity and the photo production process gives him a sort of angelic haze that lends an ethereal quality to the image. A truly memorable card the highest grade example in existence.Population DataSGC Population: 9 total graded 1 at this level 0 higherPSA Population: 19 total graded 1 at this level 0 higher
