San Francisco photographer Dana Studios released a host of boxing RPPCs between 1900 and 1925 focusing heavily on the 1910 Jeffries/Johnson fight issuing hundreds of images of the two fighters beginning months before the fight and continuing with ringside shots after the fact. Presented here is an outstanding collection of nine such postcards each bearing the Dana Studios logo and each bearing a striking image. There were so many different Dana postcards issued from ringside it is common to see them with poor images or simply poor photos. In the case of this collection each shows a meaningful image of one or both of the boxers. Each of these quality postcards has been graded by SGC. Descriptions are as follows: 1) Card #4 picturing Jeffries backing away from an advancing Johnson: SGC VG 402) Card #14 depicting Johnson standing alongside a dignitary in the ring: SGC GOOD 303) Card #46 Johnson in his corner: SGC GOOD 304) Card #77 Johnson and Jeffries mid-fight: SGC VG/EX 505) Card #84 Johnson entering the ring: SGC VG/EX 506) Card #12: "End of the Big Contest" - Johnson standing above Jeffries on the canvas: SGC FAIR 207) Card #101: "The Second Knockdown" - Johnson again standing above Jeffries.
