It's not every day that a phone call comes into the Love of the Game offices from someone looking to auction a grouping of more than 170 Cracker Jacks. Yet that is exactly what happened during the summer of 2016 and our initial skepticism was immediately quelled as the consignor - who is from outside the hobby - had clearly done his homework and was clearly knowledgeable to the point of being able to distinguish the 1914 issue from the 1915 and provide specific details on the cards. "The Jackson is a 1914 and I think it would probably grade a 3 " he said. And despite his lack of experience submitting cards for grading he was absolutely correct - PSA's assessment of this particular Shoeless Joe was preciesely that. Presented here is a completely fresh 1914 Cracker Jack Jackson - one of the hobby's most desirable cards one of a triumverate of keys from the set that we are thrilled to present in this auction. Unbelievably clean the card has been handled and exhibits some minor surface wear and well-rounded corners with some very minor corner creasing. The image on the card however is simply wonderful. The grade of VG 3 is accurate but the fact that the card has not changed hands and has resided with the family of its original owner for a century has resulted in a clean colorful image that is much more appealing than the assigned grade. Simply a wonderful card.
