Extraordinary lithograph measuring 19" x 21 1/2" depicting Giants manager John McGraw in a double-breasted suit. Originally part of a large catalog produced by The Royal Tailors of Chicago and New York which contained illustrations of various "models" wearing Toyal Tailors clothing along with a host of fabric samples. The suit which appears to have been priced at $30.00 (pants just $8.50) was one of many featured in the pages of the catalog some of which were "modeled" by pro athletes. We have seen other examples of pages from Royal Tailors catalogs featuring the likes of Ty Cobb and Christy Mathewson. An absolutely fantastic display this colorful piece does exhibit some age related toning and staining around the white borders particularly in the form of some sort of moisture stain along the left edge. Some mild paper remnants are noted in the midst of the stain in that edge though neither the remnants or the stain detract from the colorful image of McGraw and the young woman sitting nearby. The reverse page clearly contained fabric samples at one point; the swatches have all been removed from the page. A simply beautiful piece of advertising art featuring one of the era's most popular figures.
