Collection of seven photographs with direct relevance to the Black Sox trail that began on June 27, 1921 at the Cook County Courthouse in Chicago. Controversially, the trial concluded on August 2, 1921 with all defendants acquitted by the jury and subsequently permanently banned from organized baseball for life by new Commissioner of Baseball Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis. Includes a mix of Type 1 and Type 3 photos as noted:

1) Judge Hugo Friend's chambers, date stamped July 28, 1921. Important photo depicting Judge Friend convening with attorneys during the Black Sox trial preceedings. Superb image quality with unobtrusive creasing visible to the corners. Includes full LOA from PSA/DNA (7.25" x 10") 2) NL President John Heydler, Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis, Ban Johnson, and Judge Landis' assistant, Leslie O'Connor. Genral handling wear including some visible creasing but image quality remains excellent. Guaranteed Type 1 (4.5" x 7.5"). 3) Doubleweight photo of Lefty Williams exiting the Cook County Courthouse following his confession to the grand jury in Sept. of 1920. Obvious fold towards the left edge with three pinholes at the top. Full LOA from PSA/DNA (6.5" x 8.5"). 4) Infielder Joe Gedeon original Charles Conlon portrait. Gedeon was reportedly present at a meeting with gamblers discussing the fixing of games. He appeared as a witness during the Black Sox trial and was later permanently banned by Judge Landis for "having guilty knowledge" of the conspiracy. Some creasing apparent to the corners but otherwise a very clean example. Guaranteed Type 1 (6.5" x 8.5"). 5) Charles Comiskey portrait photo, "owner of the Chicago White Sox" as inscribed in pencil on verso. Bears date stamp of July 30, 1921. Created from a duplicate negative and guaranteed Type 3 (7" x 9.5"). 6) World Series seats lottery at the Sinton Hotel w/Ban Johnson. Beating date stamp from Sep. 1919 shortly before the series began. Created from a dupe negative and guaranteed Type 3 (8" x 10"). 7) Former boxer and gambler, Abe Attell who double crossed Black Sox players involved in the conspiracy.
