Collection of five original Type 1 silver gelatin news service photos. Four of the presented photos depict members of the 1919 Chicago White Sox NOT involved in the conspiracy to throw the 1919 World Series for the benefit of gamblers. The fifth photo depicts Hall of Fame umpire, Billy Evans who worked the 1919 World Series. Photos included:

1) Hall of Fame catcher, Ray Schalk. Wonderful portrait unevenly trimmed around the edges and obvious wear to corners. Bears date stamping of Oct. 18, 1923. Guaranteed Type 1 (7.25" x 9"). 2) Portrait of White Sox manager, Kid Gleason who helmed the Sox from 1919-23. Obvious wear to corners otherwise presents quite well. Guaranteed Type 1 (6.75" x 9.5"). 3) 6.5" x 8.5" photo from Charles Conlon depicting pitcher, Dick Kerr, who famously blanked the Reds in Game 3 of the 1919 World Series. Small tears to bottom edge, reinforced with clear tape on verso. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. 4) Large format photo of diminutive outfielder, Nemo Leibold.Excellent condition with some emulsion loss within top border. Includes full paper caption and date stamping from Sep, 29, 1919, just prior to the World Series which began on Oct 1. Guaranteed Type 1 (8" x10"). 5) Tightly cropped photo of Hall of Fame umpire, Billy Evans. Central image remains superbly crisp and well protected by the large outer borders. Paul Thompson credit stamping on verso with inscription referencing Evans' presence at the 1919 World Series.
