Rare and important official score book for a game between the first place Brooklyn Bridegrooms and the St. Louis Browns.  Played on September 7, this was a pennant race game, the Browns winning 4-2 and closing to within a game and a half of the Bridegrooms.  Brooklyn would win their next five games, putting some distance between them and the Browns, who tried valiantly but would finish two games behind.

This 30-page scorebook has been scored in pencil, and includes Hall of Famers Charlie Comiskey and Tommy McCarthy for St. Louis.  Each left-hand page includes a photo and bio of a Bridegrooms player (no Hall of Famers).  The book is intact, but does exhibit water staining and foxing on the interior pages.  FAIR condition with excellent display value regardless, an outstanding, seldom-seen 19th Century piece.
