Interesting folk-art piece containing 12 cutouts from the Dr. Jayne's Expectorant Baseball Folder issue.  Dr. Jayne's is a name often seen on advertising trade cards from the 19th Century, but also issued an uncut sheet that included baseball figures that could be cut out, and utilizing the tabs at the base of each cutout, stood up.  The website Prewarcards.com refers to six cutouts with the sheet labeled "Jayne's Baseball Folder No. 2," but this piece appears to contain six figures not pictured on that sheet, including a catcher, umpire, batter, pitcher and three fielders.  While it is unknown what constitutes a complete set, we feel it is likely that this framed art contains all of them.  The figures, obviously, are contained within an illustration of a baseball stadium, framed to 36" x 24".  Based on our observation of the paper and illustration, which appears to be a type of construction paper and fiber-tip pen, we believe the folk art component of this to be more modern than the cutouts.  Still, a very interesting baseball scene, created to display a seldom-seen grouping of baseball figures.
