Imagine our surprise to encounter (at our consignor's house in the South) this real photo postcard of Babe Ruth in his Yankees road grays, the photo attributed to Love of the Game's hometown of Kingston, New York!  According to Kingston's long-running newspaper the Daily Freeman (which dates to the 19th Century), Babe arrived on a ferry from Rhinecliff, NY (part of Kingston sits along the Hudson River) and was greeted by a delegation of local dignitaries, fans and kids.  He was met by local businessman and politician Hugh McTague, who drove him up to the Stuyvesant Hotel, which is currently The Stuyvesant, a building which provides supportive housing for formerly homeless senior citizens.  Clearly at some point, Ruth was brought to the Athletic field in town, ostensibly for an exhibition of some sort (there is no newspaper account of this that we can locate, yet here he is, pictured in uniform).  The newspaper account refers to his manager (Christy Walsh), accompanying him, and him bringing a suitcase containing his uniform.  Just six days removed from the Yankees' Game 7 World Series loss to the Cardinals (a game that ended with Ruth caught stealing second with two outs and Bob Meusel at the plate), Ruth was hitting exhibition home runs in Kingston.  Graded GOOD 2 by SGC, the card exhibits wear at the corners, notably the top left, which is heavily creased and chipped.
