Babe Ruth beats a throw to first baseman Johnny Mize in this Type 3 news service photo from 1935. While Babe Ruth only appeared in 40 games that season for the Braves, the final campaign of his career, Johnny Mize debuted the following season and would enjoy a long Hall of Fame career of his own. Though it remains a vintage example the photo has been created from a copy negative around the time the original image was shot.  Use of a copy negative is indicated here by the fact that some editing material appears to have been applied in several areas and remains embedded within the image itself, not on top of the emulsion layer. Both large and small paper captions have been affixed to verso with the larger detailing the depicted play. Several date stamps from various years surround the paper clippings, with the earliest appearing to be March 3, 1935. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
