Though grading companies stubbornly continue to identify these cards as the nonexistent company "Scrapps Tobacco," we now know them to be distributed by H.D. Smith & Company of Cincinnati, among the earliest gum card issues in our hobby's history.
Hall of Famer "Foxy Ned" Hanlon, graded PR 1 by SGC, due to edge and surface wear including a heavy abrasion across his chin. Writing and paper remnants are evident on the reverse, contributing to the grade as well. Overall, however, the card presents extremely well for the grade. An outstanding card, a key Hall of Famer from a misunderstood, but fascinating set.
