Bob Ganley was a left handed outfielder who also batted lefty. The
image adorning this card features an action shot of Ganley, stretching
out his gloved right hand, making a catch in front of a beautiful
background with a light blue sky, some mountains in the distance, and
green grass. The combination of the beautiful colors and the unique
action, actually depicting the ball in Ganley's glove, make this a
wonderful card.
Sharp corners carry this example to the high grade it has achieved. Some light diamond cutting is present, with the centering slightly south and west on the canvas. A small miscue on the color registration during the printing process gives an almost 3D effect and makes it look like Ganley is wearing pink and yellow war paint on his face. The back is bold and absolutely gorgeous, with some light tobacco staining giving this 115-year-old card even more character than it already has. SGC has
only ever graded 133 total examples of this Piedmont 150 back version of
the
Ganley, with
only 17 receiving a
higher grade than the VG-EX+ 4.5 offered here.
