This example features a portrait of Jack Chesbro in front of a gradient background which changes from green on the left to dark yellow on the right. While the image itself is bold and beautiful, the card's technical grade can be attributed to the fact that it was miscut, leaving half of the "CHESBRO, N.Y. AMER." below the portrait as it should be, and half at the top of the card from the text of the card above it on the uncut sheet. Light rounding on the right corners compared to the left corners, which have stayed sharper, especially for the grade. The back exhibits some light tobacco staining on the bottom half, and has an "X" written in ink in the top right corner, a marking which does not bleed through to the front.

1909 was the last season of John Dwight "Jack" Chesbro's Hall of Fame career which saw the right hander win 198 games over 11 years. Undoubtedly his best season was 1904 when he led the league in Games (55), Starts (51), Wins (41), Win % (.774), Complete Games (48), Innings Pitched (454.2!!), and Batters Faced (1,720). The next season he threw 150 fewer innings and still topped 300 for the year.
